Food Trip Friday--- Tinapang Galunggong

Between the 3 of us in the family, I'm the only one who enjoys eating Tinapa or any dried fish. Come to think of it, I'm allergic to any of its kind. Any dried fish. I get itches on my neck. But what the heck! It's really good, especially with chopped tomatoes and onions, or some vinegar with minced garlic. Yum!
Tinapa is called Smoked Fish in English. It is a process in which fishes are preserved through the process of smoking. It can be done with any fish of your choice. But we prefer Milkfish the most.

As Requested By The Mr.--- Lumpiang Shanghai

Another week full of question marks on what dishes to prepare for the family. Sometimes, I just go blank even there's a lot of dishes in line. When this happens, my husband thinks for me. So let me start a new segment called "As Requested By" It could be a from a friend, my siblings, my parents, my son and most likely from my husband.
As requested by my other half. Lumpiang Shanghai for dinner!

Torrent

Easy. You think I use torrents search?

Benefits of the site:
a) Simple interface
b) Powerful search engine
c) Opportunity to download lots of games, music, films for free in to time without the fear of downloading empty and not complete file.
d) Huge regularly updated torrent files base. Every day bots cover thousands of sites with torrent files and add them to the database.

One important benefit that I will include is, the ability of the site to tell if the downloadable file has a virus or none. Through comments from other torrent users, you will find guarantee that what you're looking for is real. From hard to find music albums, old movies and games, they have it.

With these information, I bet you already know the answer to the question above.

A Car Dilemma

One of the topics we discussed with some friends over the weekend was about cars. It's really very frustrating to almost lose a very important asset. The flood caused damages both outside and inside our pockets. After a few weeks we were given sunshine. The car got fixed. One of the things that I'm very interested in lately, is learning the car's engine. For every mechanic that I talk to, I always ask questions. That flood event made me think so much. What car part got damaged, what's needed to be changed.

One of the parts that's very important is the Turbocharger. Something like a Volkswagen turbo should be well taken cared of. Other than that, one of the things I learned about cars was air induction is a major component for this. The super charger and turbo charger has evolved into a truly high tech component. Changing these parts with high quality replacements has never been more important. Go to www.turbochargerpros.com/ to find the turbocharger for your ride.

Sisig

Our weekend comfort food--- SISIG! I had another bonding moment with my husband. Decided to prepare sisig for a change. We seldom engross ourselves to this mouth-watering and tempting Filipino dish, considering that it is high on cholesterol. Trying it once in awhile, is good. Best with both ice cold beer and hard.
Made from parts of pig’s head, liver and usually seasoned with kalamansi and chili peppers. The dish is served almost in every Filipino restaurant.
Sisig queen

Lucia Cunanan of Angeles City has been credited with inventing sisig. The Philippine Department of Tourism has acknowledged that her Aling Lucing's restaurant had established Angeles City as the "Sisig Capital of the Philippines" in 1974.Cunanan's trademark sisig was developed in mid 1974 when she served a unique blend or concoction of boiled and chopped pig ears and cheeks seasoned with vinegar, calamansi juice, chopped onions and chicken liver and served in sizzling plates. Today, varieties include sisig ala pizzailo, pork combination, green mussels or tahong, mixed seafood, ostrich sisig, spicy python, frog sisig and tokwa't baboy, among others.-source-

Pearl Of The Orient

That's what they call the Philippines. Most tourists who come here never leaves the country without a strand of pearls hanging around their necks. Let put this way, it would be very complicated to go all the way here or order pearls all the way from the Philippines if you live abroad. A great site that sells all the pearls you needed from cultured pearls, freshwater pearls, jewelry making pearls, loose pearls, pearl in oyster and wish pearls. Harvested straight from their own thousands of acres pearl farm, made with quality raw materials all the way to completed jewelry.

Guarantees safety for every item. I know the eagerness of our friends from abroad. Itching to buy some pearls. Great looking ones, customized according to what they desire. Because my line of accessories and jewelries are all pearls. The only thing that's not is my wedding ring. My relatives abroad would always ask for pearls every time a family member will visit America.

Most of my pearl accessories are made with 925 Sterling Silver. Like this ring. Its made of 925 Sterling Silver. So simple, yet so elegant.

I have a very sensitive skin. I only go for silver because its the only thing I can afford as of now. At the same time, its not hurting my skin and I'm enjoying an elegant look with the type of pearls I love.
I remember buying a strand of loose Baroque pearls. From there I had fun making my own bracelets. I gave them away as gifts and keepsakes. I'm so attracted with the shapes of Baroque pearls. Its so unique and cool to look at. You should check it out!

More Recipes Please

Let's face it. I haven't been posting any food related blogs lately. Well, this past week was really hectic for me as a mom. All I wanted to do is to prepare easy dishes for the family. My heart is longing for new recipes. I'm at the verge of getting tired of the old meals I prepare everyday. I went online and visited my favorite food networks and foodie sites, but there was also nothing new to try and cherish.

Nowadays downloading is everywhere. Its just a matter of finding the right resource. So I went back to check on Rapidshare Search. From movies, soft, music and other files for download, this is one of the most popular search.

Food Trip Friday--- Chicken Steak Tagalog

Inspired by Yummy Magazine's Beef Steak Tagalog recipe. May 2009 issue. The Yummy Magazine was actually given to us bloggers for free during the Red Ribbon Cake launch. This May 2009 issue is full of easy recipes that we can make with a snap and still create a restaurant feel of dining.
This Chicken Steak Tagalog is originally taken from our homegrown Beef Steak Tagalog recipe. I substituted the beef with chicken fillet to make it a bit different. Of course, a Filipino steak dish in incomplete without slices of onion rings to top it.

Ingredients:

1/4 C calamansi juice
1/3 C soy sauce
1/4 tsp cracked black pepper
1/2 K of chicken fillet
3 medium potatoes (cut into wedges)
1 large red or white onion
5 cloves garlic (chopped)
1/4 C water
dash of salt

How To:

  • In a bowl, mix calamansi juice together with the soy sauce, salt, black pepper, chopped garlic and chicken fillet. Set aside for about 30 minutes.
  • In a pan fry potato wedges until golden brown. Set aside.
  • Using the same pan, fry marinated chicken fillet until cooked. Add remaining marinade and water.
  • Simmer for a few seconds then add the potato wedges. Stir and serve in a bowl topped with onion rings.

Servings:4-5
Enjoy!
