Food Trip Friday--- Chicken Steak Tagalog
This Chicken Steak Tagalog is originally taken from our homegrown Beef Steak Tagalog recipe. I substituted the beef with chicken fillet to make it a bit different. Of course, a Filipino steak dish in incomplete without slices of onion rings to top it.Ingredients:
1/4 C calamansi juice
1/3 C soy sauce
1/4 tsp cracked black pepper
1/2 K of chicken fillet
3 medium potatoes (cut into wedges)
1 large red or white onion
5 cloves garlic (chopped)
1/4 C water
dash of salt
How To:
- In a bowl, mix calamansi juice together with the soy sauce, salt, black pepper, chopped garlic and chicken fillet. Set aside for about 30 minutes.
- In a pan fry potato wedges until golden brown. Set aside.
- Using the same pan, fry marinated chicken fillet until cooked. Add remaining marinade and water.
- Simmer for a few seconds then add the potato wedges. Stir and serve in a bowl topped with onion rings.

Spicy Beef Strips
Been figuring out a beef strip dish the whole week. Beef strips (sirloin strips) are the easiest to cook. Meat tenderizer is not needed as long as the meat is fresh.

1 cup soy sauce
2 tbsp worsteshire sauce
1/4 cup vinegar or calamansi juice
1/2 small packet of Equal
2 pinches of salt and pepper
5 cloves garlic minced
1 tsp ginger strips
green chili (chopped) or 1/2 tsp chili powder
scallions chopped
1 medium green bell pepper (sliced)
button mushrooms (optional)
oil for sauteing
1/2 cup water
How To:
For 3 -4 hours, marinate beef strips in soysauce, vinegar, sweetener, garlic, salt and pepper.
Boil beef strips in 1/2 cup water until cooked.
Set aside.
In a seperate pan, saute mixed, chopped veggies. (And chili powder).
Add beef strips and worsteshirs sauce
Salt and Pepper to taste

Beef Steak
I love eating this dish during breakfast with rice. Sorry the picture is blurry, I used a cheap camera :)2 Lbs. Round Roast (lean beef)
1 Large red onion
1 Cup of soy sauce
1 Cup of water
1 dozen calamansi (squeezed)
salt and pepper
Corn oil for frying
1.In a large bowl marinate beef in soy sauce, water, calamansi, and msg for an hour.
2.Heat frying pan and add 2 Tbs. of corn oil and fry meat in batches until they all have good sear marks on both sides.
3.Remove meat from the pan and set aside. Repeat the process for the next batch.
4.You will need to add more oil each time you fry more batches of meat. When you are done frying, add all the meat back into the frying pan and add the remaining marinade to the pan.
5.Let it simmer for 5 minutes on medium heat and then add the onions and let cook for another minute.
6.Serve with rice and enjoy your Bistek!
