We've been renting our home for 6 years and the next thing we want to have once we have our own house is to have better bathrooms. One thing is for sure,we are going to make our bathrooms stylish. Bathrooms are second location in the house that makes a person complete. Just a year ago, my son suffered from a terrible tummy ache, which was later on diagnosed a serious sickness acquired from drinking water. For our home, we have been a frequent buyer of clean water, processed for this matter. But ironically when we eat or dine out somewhere, sometimes we stay satisfied with tap water. So when my son got this terrible sickness, we immediately traced the cause, and true enough, tap water was the main reason. Let's face it, our environment is not as clean compared to our grandparents' time. Reverse Osmosis Water Filter was the only purification method they considered back then. Now in the present, water filter of all types are popping out in the market  just to be able to preserve with what's left of our natural running water.

With what my son went through, I have a filtering system for every faucet in the house. We still buy processed water for drinking just to be sure.

A Little More For Our Bedding

It's been almost a week since my last post on this site. I got sick over the weekend but I still went out in order to break the boredom. I went shopping for some new bed sheets by the way. At the department store, I browsed on sets of sheets, blankets and pillow cases. Well, my son voluntarily transferred his so-called toy kingdom out of the master's bedroom to the living room. I really waited for him to do it by himself. I don't want to force him because he is also learning. 

Well, now with his toys placed somewhere else, I was finally able to fix our room and make it more cozy. So as I was sharing earlier, I went to the mall to shop for new sheets. I took my time and look on some bed frames. The sales lady was also giving out info about bed bug prevention methods. Quite timely too, that info will come in handy. I didn't  rush on buying, I thought, if I can't find the right bedding, maybe it's a sign that I will find something better next time.  The mall was almost closing when I went for another round, and found in a corner Bedding by Esprit. And they have therapeutic slippers too. I gotta save up for the slipper though, I can't afford to buy everything in one night because I plan to buy 2 pairs. 1 for me and for my husband. I don't mind spending a little more for comfort.

The Refrigerator Hunt Begins

Since 2007 our refrigerator has been acting strange. There were times when it would stop working in an instant and after a few days, we plug it again all of a sudden it works! Bottomline, it is very hard to get by without a refrigerator working perfectly fine. It greatly affects our meal everyday, the freshness of every ingredient matters. 

After 2 years, finally we're at the process of looking for a new icebox. One of my main concerns is to upgrade to a newer model. If we're going to shed out money, might as well invest on something that will last  us for another  10 or even 20 years. My parents just recently bought a new one. Their tips are  helping, because it's a bit hard finding information about cabinet depth refrigerators especially now that we're after the latest models in the market. It's also advisable to read tips and reviews online, take time browsing at your favorite appliance center. We also need to consider an appliance that's going to be energy efficient, that offers enough space for all types of food, needed to be stored, an icebox that has easy maintenance in case something goes wrong and the top brands known for its durability and good reviews.

One of the things I took note of is this Refrigerator Tip I found online:

"The bigger the family, the more space you will need. However, the opposite is actually more important. If you are not going to be putting much inside it, you actually want to try to get as small a refrigerator as practical, because refrigerators are far more efficient when they are packed full, and the larger your refrigerator is, the less “packed full” it will be."

On Maintaining Our Home

My family's moving to a new place. This is one of the dilemma's my family would always get into. It's fun sharing some points on redoing our home. We found it hard to look for the perfect house and condo unit, or at least something that fits our criteria. Most of the places that we saw had problems with the structure itself. Cracks, holes and stains. We had to look on some homeowners insurance quotes. I got pretty excited when we found out that we can have the place fixed according to what we want and how it should look.

I have plans for our kitchen, the dining area, the living room and of course, the master's bedroom. We opted to get a smaller place so we can decorate it properly without putting to much appliances or go over with the decorations.

With this, I've been thinking if I should add home and living to this food blog. I saw the flexibility of having a food blog. This may involve our dining set-up, kitchen must-haves and designs. There's a lot to choose from. But it's still just a thought as of the moment. It's not easy to redo everything. But then, my site's title has it "From My Kitchen and Beyond".
